Mahwit

Mahwit is the governorate where Jebel Milhan is located.  Jebel Milhan is the most recently declared protected area in Yemen. The Yemeni cabinet decree naming the Jebel Milhan Protected Area was announced on November 24, 2010 and is a direct result of work done by Hans Schmidt and the Foundation there.  Hans currenly sponsors a small leopard survey under the direction of Nasser Aswot at Jebel Milhan with logistical support from the Foundation.  We are in the process of applying for further funding to expand this important survey,
