01 Jul 2011 - 'Zoom’ – an evening of film from Yemen, 6th July 2011

'Zoom’ – an evening of film from Yemen, 6th July 2011 – Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Kensington Gore entrance, 6.30-9.30pm
To coincide with the exhibition ‘8 Artists in Yemen’ (Royal Geographical Society Exhibition Pavilion 20 June 2011 to 8 July 2011) this special film evening offers an opportunity to preview some of the latest work by a wide range of film-makers responding to the Yemeni landscape, its rich heritage and contemporary culture.

Join us for the first UK theatrical screening of ‘The Leopard’, a recent commission demonstrating the role of contemporary conservation in Yemen, plus the first London screening of ‘The Gift’ by Ziryab Al Ghaberi– the first winner of the British Council’s recent Zoom Film competition in Yemen, along with a selection of excerpts from short-listed films from the competition.

During the evening there will be an opportunity to visit the exhibition, to see a display of stills photography and a chance to speak to some of the film-makers.

Ticket price including refreshments: £10 per head.
